For walls being plastered from scratch - after a building extension, conversion, or major renovation - we apply a full two-coat system. The base or backing coat brings the surface to an even key, and the finish coat goes on top once the backing has set to the correct stage.

Timing matters here; applying finish too early or too late on the backing coat affects the quality of the final surface. Getting this right consistently comes from experience, and it's something we've refined over more than 20 years on the tools.

We also carry out patch and repair plastering - matching in new plaster around pipe chases, doorway alterations, knocked-out sections, and damp repairs. Good patch plastering is harder than it looks; the challenge is blending the new section into the surrounding surface without a visible edge.
